Investing For the Future – Findel
Findel Education Division is the leading supplier of educational products across the full curriculum. It trades in the UK and internationally with schools and educational institutions through nine high profile brands including Hope Education, Step by Step and Davies Sports.
Operating from three distribution centres, Findel supplies products such as books, toys and other school equipment, right through from pre-school to university age. The company turned to Redirack when it required additional racking for its warehouse in Nottingham.
Kevin Parker, Facilities Engineer at Findel said, ‘Redirack was very efficient, right through from the initial plans to the racking installation. They provided a competitive quote and an excellent service, plus good on site workmanship.’
The warehouse had three existing blocks of racking, the latest development added runs and bays to all three blocks, and increased the centre’s storage capacity by around 30%. The new racking rises to over twelve metres in places, has thirteen beam levels, and three different beam sections. This enables the system to cater for the various types and weights of load being stored. The aisles are 1800mm wide and are worked by narrow aisle trucks and orderpickers. Throughout the scheme truck guidance is provided by low profile guiderail.
Redishelf, our boltless shelving system, was also supplied as part of the development to create a storage area for awkward and non-palletised items. The shelving is 4500mm high, 600mm deep and has nine levels. Just under 150 bays were installed in two runs. It is worked by narrow aisle orderpickers, as shown.
Extending the storage system within the warehouse has enabled Findel to store more product on site, which in turn has reduced costs.
Kevin concluded: ‘The people at Redirack have been fantastic to work with. The installation was very efficient, and now we have a storage system that works very well for us.’
