Translift Engineering win Technology/Innovation UKWA AwardsWe sponsor the Technology/Innovation Award at the UKWA annual Awards for Warehousing. This year saw the fourth annual event and the winner of "our" award was Translift Engineering. An associate member of UKWA, the company launched its revolutionary articulated Bendi lift truck 14 years ago. This year's award recognised the introduction of the smart Bendi, capable of working in a 1.6 metre wide aisle and lifting 1 tonne to 9 metres the truck features a cab that can be rotated through 90 degrees. Translift Engineering's Chairman is Freddie Brown who is credited with inventing the Bendi articulated truck idea. The Bendi is an articulated four-wheel counterbalance truck with unique aisle efficiency. Stacking aisles can be as small as 1800mm (using a 1200mm wide by 1000mm deep pallet) giving a density of storage that exceeds that of any reach trucks and in many instances, better than a V.N.A. (very narrow aisle) machine. Transfer aisles can be as small as 2000mm and no form of guidance is required, giving a totally cost effective system. More information can be found on the company's web site www.bendi.co.uk. The picture on the left shows a Bendi in action within a Redirack pallet racking installation at DCS Europe.
