Push Back Pallet Racking

Push Back Pallet Racking is a type of pallet storage system used in warehouses and distribution centres to maximise storage density and utilise available space. It is a high-density storage solution that allows multiple pallets to be stored in deep lanes, typically from 2 to 6 pallets deep, and up to 5 or more levels high. Push back racking is a solution that combines the benefits of drive-in racking with a higher throughput and increased accessibility. It allows for quick access to a variety of SKUs and facilitates faster loading and unloading.

Pallet Racking

Rediracks push back pallet racking can make better use of available floor space by reducing the number of aisles required and also reducing the need for lane retrieval for forklift trucks. Products are stored on platforms that are mounted on slightly inclined rails and are retrieved from the front of the system. Once one pallet is retrieved the pallets behind move towards the front of the lane by gravity.

As with drive-in racking, push back pallet racking operates as a last in first out operation. This means that the last pallet loaded onto a lane will be the first pallet to be unloaded when needed. This is also known as a LIFO retrieval system and is suitable for the storage of bulk products. Conventional forklift trucks can be utilised with the only requirement being tiltable forks/mast.

Push back racking systems provide excellent density compared to traditional pallet racking systems because it uses depth for storage rather than aisles. This type of racking is also relatively easy to expand to accommodate business changing storage needs.

Overall, Push-back pallet racking is a storage system that uses gravity and a cart-based design to efficiently store multiple pallets in deep lanes while allowing for easy access to stored goods. It’s a valuable option for organisations looking to maximise their warehouse storage space.

PUSH BACK PALLET RACKING MANUFACTURERS

When a pallet is loaded, the rollers/carts enable the loading pallet to push the existing pallets further back. when a pallet is retrieved, gravity enables the remaining pallets to move forward. In a roller push back system, the movement is assisted by magnetic speed controllers to decelerate the pallets. In a cart pushback system, the movement is controlled by the forklift operator.
