Coolcare Logistics Limited specialises in the storage and distribution of frozen and chilled food. The new company, which was set up in 2005, is located in a brand new distribution centre, which required an efficient storage system. David Hodgson, Project Manager at Coolcare said, "During our research to find the best pallet racking supplier for the new warehouse, Redirack was the name that stood out from the rest. Existing users of the racking were full of praise for the company and its product. Based on these comments and our own discussions, we settled on Redirack as our chosen supplier."

The new distribution centre is split into three areas: ambient, chilled and frozen. The racking installed in the ambient area provides nearly 3500 pallet positions, whilst the frozen and chilled areas have just over 2000 positions. A mixture of frame widths and beam levels enables Coolcare to store both GKN Chep and Euro pallets, all of which are handled by reach trucks.

At the end of each racking run there is a rack end barrier. These provide protection for the vulnerable frames and uprights at front of each aisle. Our unique sacrificial leg is standard throughout the system.

David commented, "The sacrificial leg has proven to be an excellent feature of the racking. We have found damage to frames to be a unavoidable occurrence, but as the leg can be replaced in as little as twenty minutes, this makes damage replacement easier and less costly than the alternative - changing a frame."

The installation took less than three weeks from start to finish. David concluded, "The people at Redirack were excellent at communicating with us, and were quick to offer advice and sort out problems."
