Viscount Catering

Viscount Catering is the Sheffield based factory of Enodis UK Food Service, a worldwide company focused on the design, manufacture and supply of food and beverage equipment.

The Sheffield facility has a 25,000 square foot warehouse and a 75,000 square foot manufacturing area. This facility was recently completely refitted, Redirack racking and a Redifloor mezzanine were installed. Paul Briggs, General Manager, oversaw the project. “Redirack visited our Sheffield site, looked at the type of products being stored; their size and weight, and came up with two or three designs for us to choose from. They also gave us great advice regarding health and safety requirements during the fit-out.”

We installed a narrow aisle racking system that is worked by 3 Flexi-trucks and 3 normal forklifts. In total 4,000 pallet spaces were created and the sto rage system follows the contours of the building’s roof to maximise storage density. Wire decking was added to the racking to cater for the variety of load sizes and configurations. Sacrificial legs and rack-end barriers finish off the scheme and provide added protection and cheap maintenance with minimum downtime in the event of rack damage.

The mezzanine floor covers part of warehouse area and is used for storing spare parts. It has a main staircase plus a fire ladder. A pallet gate provides safe access for fork lift trucks adding or removing pallets from the floor, and the floor is fire protected. A Redishelf system on the floor provides simple but effective spare parts storage.

Paul was happy with the way that the installation went: “Redirack were very good, the installation went very smoothly and we were able to do business as usual while the racking was installed. Meticulous service during the build, working around other contractors, was backed-up by excellent after sales-service, several visits being made to check everything was ok. We would deal with Redirack again and recommend them to others.”
