Turners (Soham) Limited is one of the largest privately owned transport companies in the UK, currently operating around 600 heavy goods vehicles from nine depots in the UK. The company specialises in temperature controlled transport from its Newmarket site, and its major customers include J Sainsbury, Tesco, HM Prison Services and the USAF.
Turners' distribution centre in Newmarket has had two extensions, the last of which gave the company an additional 16, 000 pallet spaces of frozen goods storage. When specifying the racking to be used within the new cold store, Turners chose Redirack. Powered mobile pallet racking gives the best storage density in this type of installation, and was chosen for the Turners' store. Redirack adjustable pallet racking is arranged with a double run on each powered base. Each bay has 6 beam levels, and 3 pallets are stored at each level.
