Redirack At Your Service
Most companies worth their salt will have a service policy to provide today’s demanding customers with the promise of satisfaction. Servicecare just make service their business!
Providing support solutions to leading multi-channel retailers, manufacturers of IT and consumer electronic products, Servicecare work actively with their clients to develop their logistic strategies and often become a fully integral partner in their support infrastructure. Over a 20-year period this approach has earned them the enviable position of being a leader in this field and one who is capable of providing a quantifiable bottom line benefit as well as improving levels of efficiency.
Much of Servicecare’s work consists of testing or repairing consumer electronic equipment returns from small personal stereos to large plasma screen televisions and their portfolio of clients include leading names such as Littlewoods, GUS, Shop-direct, Safeway, Philips, Hitachi and JVC, amongst others.
With high volumes of equipment regularly passing through Servicecare’s warehouse, it is vital that an efficient storage system is developed to ensure a fast flow of products through the warehouse so that the time the products are on the shelf is kept to an absolute minimum. The merger of two warehouse sites into one purpose built facility in Manchester earlier this year gave Servicecare an opportunity to review the issue of storage and Redirack’s expertise was sought to help them maximise the storage capacity.
Simon Johnston, Operations Manager for Servicecare, explains: “Moving to our new facility offered us the opportunity for substantial development and our operations were modernised to support the company’s growth. We had already used Redirack to fit out our last facility and they were the obvious choice to advise us on how best to utilise the space available.”
Following a three-month planning and consultation period, Redirack installed a wide aisle racking system throughout three-quarters of the 3,742sqm warehouse with seventeen runs of racking between 45 and 52 meters in length housing almost 2,700 pallets.
The quick and easy location of the product is an integral part of the system. Counter balance and reach trucks manoeuvre the pallets around the racking which rises to over 7 meters at the apex of the building.
To provide the level of service demanded by their customers, Servicecare are equally demanding of themselves and operate a quality control system, fully accredited to ISO 9001:2000 and it was important that the racking installation complied with these very exactly standards.
“Redirack inspired us with confidence throughout the whole process” Simon continued. “We’ve been very pleased with them. They provided us with a competitive quote and the installation of the racking and sprinkler system was very professional indeed.”
